Jack Miller considers GP rookie star Pedro Acosta to be …

Pedro Acosta has turned many high profile heads since stepping into the Grand Prix racing scene in 2021, with Jack Miller most recently throwing his support and giving the aspiring Spaniard some tips.

With four wins from the first nine races – a record for a newcomer to the GP – Acosta has developed a comfortable lead with 48 points ahead of the summer break.

With the support of KTM and Ajo Motorsport, Acosta – only 16 years old – is considered ripe for a quick entry into MotoGP, even if he is probably not yet able to make the same leap from Moto3 to MotoGP as Miller 2015 did.

Miller’s jump is certainly rare by today’s standards, but it served him well, the Australian is now a three-time race winner at MotoGP level, even if it took until 2021 before he was seen as a title threat on his first works contract.

In fact, Miller was impressed by the sensation when he came to Barcelona for a training session and session, not least because the youngster was looking for the Australian himself.

“He was there in Barcelona and asked if he could train with us,” he said. “I was happy to have him there. He was super enthusiastic. I really like it when these young people come in and they aren’t. ”Since they’re superstars, they just come in and are normal guys.

“We’re here to ride a motorcycle, and while it’s a job, you still have to have fun. He really enjoyed coming and training. The kid is a huge talent.”

“I’ve learned a lot in my time here. I’ve been on both sides … When I was in Moto3, I didn’t know anyone or anything and I was trying to fight for a world title,” said Miller.

“I was just trying to give him a little guide by saying, ‘Do what you did, it worked so far. Don’t let anyone try to change you. Do what works for you and keep it that way. ‘ He’s a smart kid.

“Aki and I talked about it. I’m glad he’s coming to training. Like I said, he’s not a superstar, he’s not one of those people who thinks he’s better than everyone else.

“He’s just a normal guy who likes to ride a motorcycle.”
