SBK, BSB, Storm Stacey renewed with GR Motosport

As the days go by, the climate and environment become more festive and the UK’s superbike network takes shape. Not only drivers with great experience, in the land of Perfidious Albion they invest heavily in the so-called “young generation”, as confirmed by today’s news: Storm Stacey will continue with the GR Motosport Team again in BSB 2021. Fresh from a positive debut season, the 17-year-old youngster has the opportunity to continue his adventure aboard the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR.

An encouraging debut

A career matured in the secondary classes and a third place in the British Motostar Moto3 trophy at the tender age of 14. A promise that enabled him to make his full-time debut in the BSB British Superbike after a single year with production-ready motorcycles and another third place in the British SuperStock 600. Brent Gladwin’s team came up with a great idea to give him a chance, albeit with some headache: Because Stacey was 16 years old at the time, the MSVR championship promoter and the MCRCB had to issue a special license to allow him to race.

With a 2020 season that started with a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, As events progressed, the 2003 driver’s class gradually got to grips with his Ninja ZX-10RR until he got his first championship point in race 2 at the Silverstone ‘National’. He improved that result at the ‘Grand Prix’ weekend at Donington Park by finishing 13th in Race 2.

Look to 2021

For Storm Stacey, the first contact with BSB proved to be constructive and fruitful and now, with a year of experience behind him, The aim is to fight systematically for the points area and to show your potential wherever possible.

“I feel like this year has gone really well for me and I’ve scored points more than once – explained Storm Stacey – I think the highlight was at Donington Park, where I was in the top ten during the race, even though I was up against some big names. I’ve learned a lot this year; especially that one of the things about superbikes is that the slower you think you’re going, the faster you go. I realized that you need a good position in qualifying; It’s so hard to get through the field in this class and that’s something to work on for the next season too. In 2021 I want to learn more and gain a foothold in this championship because I only did that in the races last year, as we didn’t really test a lot. The next season will be another year of testing to find out what works for me, how we want the bike setup and I would like to push for the top ten, or maybe even a little better! But I would be happy about top ten placements and see what happens. “
