SBK, BSB, Markus Reiterberger strengthens Global Robots BMW team

This coming weekend at Donington Park, Markus Reiterberger will make his debut in the BSB British Superbike together with the expert Peter Hickman in the Global Robots BMW team.

With both drivers present at the final of the World Endurance Championship on the Estoril circuit this weekend, the official announcement hit the social channels of Darren Jones’ team a few minutes ago.

Over the course of his long career, Reiterberger has always been a very competitive rider who won the IDM Superbike Championship in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

In 2019 the German returned to the World Superbike team with Tom Sykes in the official BMW relay team after winning last season’s European SuperStock 1000 Championship with alpha Racing – Van Zon – BMW (four wins and two third places).

After a just under satisfactory season, in which he finished 14th overall with a meager 83 points, the 26-year-old then switched to the ARRC (Asia Road Racing Championship).

After the cancellation of the remaining events on the Asian championship calendar, “Reiti” is now free to enter into further commitments parallel to the endurance world championship.

Cleared of with the second S1000RR Alex Olsen Due to a serious fall in qualifying at the Silverstone ‘National’ Circuit, the Global Robots BMW team thought it would be a good idea to catch Reiterberger.

A bond with the Munich-based manufacturer that has existed since 2011 is further strengthened.

“I am delighted to be able to take part in the races of the British Superbike Championship,” said Reiterberger. “The level at BSB is really high, especially because the bikes have little electronic support, for example no traction or wheelie control, which will be new for me. Thanks to the incredible support from alpha Racing, I will be able to take part in the event with two experienced employees, my new crew chief and my long-standing chassis expert and present myself in another top-class championship. My expectations are pretty high, even though I know that due to the lack of preparation time, I shouldn’t set them too high. We’ll see how it goes – I’ll try to put on a good show and I’m really looking forward to the weekend at Donington Park. “
