MotoGP, Jorge Martin positive for coronavirus, skips Misano GP

The curtain is ready to open, and here is the first turn of the story. As reported by AS, Jorge Martin tested positive for SAR-CoV-2. The Spaniard had a classic routine check-up before the GP and tested positive.

As required by the Dorna Protocol, tThe Ajo team driver has to stay in quarantine and skip the Misano lap this weekend. However, there are still some doubts about the second race on the Riviera track next week, as Martin, as reported by AS, was tested a few days ago.

For Martin this is undoubtedly a hard blow in terms of the World Cup, as he is only eight points behind Enea Bastianini after the Red Bull Ring. Dorna is expected to officially announce the news today. According to AS, the risk is that there are other MotoGP riders who could be positive.

Martin has been identified by Ducati as a likely replacement for Jack Miller in Pramac for 2021.

We hope, of course, that there will be no more cases, even if this cannot be ruled out given the rise in infections, especially in countries such as Spain and France. As for Martin, the Ajo driver is the third driver in the paddock who tested positive after the video operator and Matteo Bertelle, who was stopped at the second race of the Rookies Cup in Austria.
