Austrian GP: Martin beats Quartararo to record pole

With a sparkling 1: 22.643, the Spaniard overtook the leader of the FIM MotoGP World Championship 2021, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) by just 0.034 seconds on his very last lap.

Francesco Bagnaia from the Ducati Lenovo Team took P3 for the Sunday outing.

Austrian GP: Zarco comes out full of energy in Spielberg

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) climbed to P4 on his last lap, but then attention turned to the two Pramac Racing Ducatis – Johann Zarco and Martin.

The latter clung to his teammate’s skirt and through sector 3 the rookie sensation was 0.176 seconds short of Quartararo’s time. Zarco saw the checkered flag first and pulled ahead of Marquez.

Zarco smiled back into the garage and started from the spearhead of row 2 in fourth place, next to the Frenchman the fifth Marquez and the sixth Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team).

FIM MotoGP World Champion Mir starts on P7, 0.7 seconds from pole, while Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) and Miguel Oliveira complete row 3.

Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) hopes to tear another Sunday master class out of his hat from 10th place.

If it’s Saturday, then the MotoGP encounter on Sunday turns into an eye-catcher in the Styrian mountains.

Will Martin manage two poles and as many two victories at the Red Bull Ring?
