After four wins from the first nine rounds, Quartararo came to the start of the second half of the season with a 34 point lead over the Austrians.
And after finishing third and seventh at the Red Bull Ring, Quartararo has grown to 47 points ahead of the British Grand Prix next weekend.
Now second overall to defend his title in 2020, Mir believes the next three races at Silverstone, Aragon and Misano will be a crucial point in the battle for the championship and believes the pressure will continue to increase becomes Quartararo.
“Well, I think Fabio will start another championship now,” said the Suzuki driver. “I think we’ll see a different championship in the next three races.
“Even if he has a considerable distance [at the top of the standings], now I think the pressure is getting higher at the beginning of every race. It’s always difficult for a driver to handle these pressures.
“Also, all the pressure from Yamaha is probably against him now and that was something that wasn’t like that last year.
“He’s really fine, but the pressure is definitely much higher now, so let’s see.”

Quartararo disproved this when Mir’s comments were directed to him, noting that it will be nothing new to keep all of Yamaha’s eyes on him as he had it already during the Austrian GP weekend when teammate Maverick Vinales was banned.

I admit after the Austrian GP that he assumes that he will have to win at least two races in the last part of the championship to have any hope of winning the title.
