SBK, BSB, Luke Mossey with DB Racing Kawasaki Team in 2021

That BSB British Superbike The market is in full swing, one of the craziest in recent years due to the numerous driver changes. After the big announcements of the first BMW, Yamaha and Ducati teams, it was the Akashi manufacturer’s turn today, and the DB Racing Team has now formalized the agreement with Luke Mossey for the 2021 season. The 28-year-old will ride an updated Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR with the aim of competing for the top 10 in every race and getting good results wherever possible.

A return to Kawasaki for Mossey

A steady presence in the British Championship for the past five years, in 2015, the Cambridge rider joined BSB as the new shining star of the British motorcycle scene. At the end of a positive first adaptation phase on the JG Speedfit Bournemouth Kawasaki, which had qualified for the showdown in 2016, Luke Mossey became the protagonist of a perfect “Sliding Doors” season the following year: two wins at Brands Hatch Indy drove him into the Top places, only to lose after a very serious accident he suffered in free practice for the Thruxton Round that resulted in a long series of broken bones. Not only did he have to say goodbye to the weekend when he was the undisputed favorite, but he also lost any chance of the title fight.

Mossey never really recovered from this crash. Below-average results both in the second half of 2017 and throughout 2018 prompted the then 26-year-old to join the new OMG Racing Team. First with the Suzuki GSX-R 1000, then with the BMW S1000RR, in both cases Mossey was never able to keep the performance constant on the track. Although he was about to switch to the British SuperStock 1000 in search of new impulses, the man from Cambridge always wanted to remain in the top class. The call from DB Racing turned out to be a godsend for Luke Mossey. where he can revert to an updated version of the ZX-10RR in terms of engine and suspension, to continue a path unresolved in 2018.

Mossey said, “I’m really looking forward to a fresh start in 2021 and working with the team that has so many years of championship and past experience with Kawasaki. I feel like I’m getting back to my roots by getting back on a Kawasaki; that is how everything started for me at BSB, with which I was already successful. The upgrades for the new Kawasaki for next year look great and I’m looking forward to working with my new crew chief Pete Jennings, who has a lot of experience. “

An ambitious project

Dave Tyson’s team formerly known as Bike Devil Racing Team has also consolidated its plans for the BSB support categories. In addition to the British SuperStock 600, DB Racing will again be involved in the SuperSport 600 class: After an agreement with James Westmoreland had failed, it was decided to turn to Jack Kennedy. Fresh from a negative period in the BSB, the two-time British SS600 champion will pursue his third career title aboard the brand new one Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R636.

Kennedy said: “I’m back to fight for the number three title in British supersport but this time with a different team and manufacturer, so I’m looking forward to the new era that lies ahead. Thanks to Dave Tyson for the opportunity. My goal is to fight for the BSS title next season, with the plan to return to SBK next year. “
