Gresini Racing will compete as an independent Ducati MotoGP team in 2022-23

Press release | June 17, 2021

The Gresini Racing Team will compete in MotoGP as a Ducati satellite team in 2022-23.

This is a press release from Gresini Racing …

From next year Gresini Racing will be back as an independent MotoGP team with Ducati as the manufacturer of choice. This decision was strongly supported by Fausto’s family and leads to a whole new project linked to the Borgo Panigale brand for the next two seasons.

Team Gresini will once again have full control of its Premier Class efforts with the all-Italian line-up of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini, two talented young drivers no strangers to Fausto and Gresini Racing.

A big thank you goes to Aprilia Racing for the seven years together that have written a particularly important chapter in the history of Gresini Racing.

Nadia Padovani – Gresini Racing Team Owner & Team Leader: “It’s a very emotional moment for each of us. Over the past few months our efforts have been combined with a strong emotional drive to shape the future of Gresini Racing and now we are very proud and happy to make the official announcement. It’s a project born out of continuity and based on the values on which Fausto built this amazing institution. My thanks go first and foremost to Carmelo Ezpeleta for never feeling alone in these months, to Ducati for the trust in our projects, to Flex-Box, who joined us as title sponsor in this new challenge, and of course to Fabio and Enea: I am sure that they will do their best to raise the Gresini Racing banner. “

Gigi Dall’Igna – Managing Director of Ducati Corse: “We are incredibly happy to have this agreement with Gresini Racing for the next two MotoGP seasons. At the end of last year we had already laid the foundation stone for a possible agreement with Fausto and would like to thank his family from the bottom of our hearts for driving this project forward with us. Gresini Racing has been a particularly important institution in MotoGP for many years and we are confident that this partnership, which can count on two very talented drivers like Enea and Fabio, will be of great satisfaction for everyone involved. “

Carmelo Ezpeleta – CEO Dorna Sports: “First of all, it is a pleasure to continue working with Gresini Racing as an independent team. I know how much Fausto took care of this project and I’m sure he would be very proud of it now. In the last few weeks I had the opportunity to speak to Nadia and I see in her, in her sons and in the entire team the determination and great passion for this sport that has so shaped it. We are pleased that Gresini Racing will continue in the Premier Class for at least another 5 years. “
