Jack Miller to auction helmet for Australian bushfires …

Pramac Ducati rider Jack Miller is the latest athlete to raise funds to aid victims of the Australian bushfire crisis through the 2018 MotoGP helmet auction.

Though midsummer bush fires are no stranger to Australia, this year’s period has proven to be particularly harsh, with a string of forest fires burning for weeks, destroying thousands of homes and killing at least 25 people and millions of animals since September.

With no end in sight, as Australia heads into midsummer, celebrities and athletes have begun fighting en masse to raise funds for the relief effort, hundreds of thousands each.

A special appeal from Australian comedian Celeste Barber has raised an extraordinary A $ 30 million in less than a week.

Several sports stars have followed suit. A number of tennis players who compete in annual Australian tournaments donate money for every ace hit and prize money, while Australia’s F1 star Daniel Ricciardo is giving away his racing suit to raise funds.

Now Miller – who took five podiums in MotoGP last year – is doing his part by auctioning off the helmet he wore during the 2018 MotoGP World Championship season. He also offered to dedicate it to the successful bidder and sign it.

He also used the Facebook post to refer people to the NSW Rural Fire Service to donate money directly.

Miller returns to the Sepang International Circuit from February 5th to 7th as one of four drivers who will put the new Ducati GP20 through its paces alongside Andrea Dovizioso, Danilo Petrucci and Pecco Bagnaia.
