Joan Mir denies restrictions on tire talks but warns: “It wasn’t just me, other drivers have complained”

Michelin has been under fire in recent weeks as tire choices for each track have been the subject of debate and the excessive wear and tear that most drivers have experienced in recent races has created some chatter in the paddock.

Defending champion Joan Mir denies there are restrictions on drivers not to speak to the press about Michelin, but he believed several drivers had problems with the performance of the compounds available in recent races. This is what the Mallorcan said at the GP opening conference in Aragón on the subject:

  • This is part of our job. It is usually not that we are not allowed to talk about tires. I think Michelin is doing everything it can to solve these tire problems as well as possible. But it’s true that in the last few races, not only I, but also other drivers have complained a lot. If it were a one-time thing, well, there wouldn’t be that many complaints, but the truth is it has happened more often and therefore it’s more complicated to have silence. I think they are doing what they can to give everyone good tires but for some reason something has happened in the last few races.
