The weekend at the Red Bull Ring did not start optimally for Miguel Oliveira. The KTM rider was thrown off the bike at the end of FP1 in turn 3. The check-up at the medical center ruled out any fractures, but Miguel preferred not to participate in the second free practice session.
“First of all, I’m disappointed and really sorry for the start of the weekend,” he said. “During the first session the brake lever was very close to the handlebars and I couldn’t stop the bike, so I pitted a few times to see what was going on and to improve my performance. I went back out and went a little far in turn three. When I opened the throttle off the line, the traction control didn’t work. I spun in the air and before landing I think the handlebars hit my hand. That hurt the most. We removed any doubts about further injuries to see if we can move on and see what we can do. “
