Espargaro and Marquez get to work on the weather hit Misano Test

Rain overnight and brief showers in the morning made the Misano test start late after the race. Pol Espargaro was the only Honda rider who was out before lunch and only completed two laps.

Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro would finally leave at 2:00 p.m. local time after lunch when the weather cleared up. The pair made maximum use of the available track time and completed 112 laps between them. Espargaro spent the first day of the two day test working on his driving style and testing different parts for the Honda RC213V. He completed a total of 65 laps, a best time of 1’31.631, which brought him to second place overall and 0.107s behind Bagnaia, who topped the timesheet. The time was 0.3s faster than his Q2 time.

Marc Marquez, team-mate from the Repsol Honda team, had an equally productive day over his 47 laps of the Misano circuit. After finishing fourth in Sunday’s race, the # 93 worked through its test plan and set a best time of 1: 32.448 on its last lap. The time was 0.8 seconds ahead of Pol Espargaro and 0.924 seconds ahead of Bagnaia’s fastest time.

Stefan Bradl also drove the test earlier in the day helping Honda HRC evaluate various options and developments.

Marquez and Espargaro will return to the track tomorrow for the second and final day of the Misano test before heading to Austin.
