The champion tried his best, lost the fight for fourth place with Jack Miller and Marc Márquez, but had to be content with sixth place in the end. In the end, he revealed that he had made a mistake in choosing a tire and commented on the two-day test.
‘I recognized the mistake [in the tyres] in the first few laps when I asked more from the front tire with a full tank. Somehow I couldn’t stop the bike. When the fuel ran out my times improved and I was able to be fast, I still had a period of showing some speed but it was too late […] I suspect that for the test we will have things that will help us stop the bike more as we are now using a different setup and it demands more from the front tire. I think this is a suitable direction for my driving style, but I couldn’t use it at Misano because I chose the middle tire which was a mistake. I am sure Suzuki is working on a solution. I don’t know what the test will be, but there will be quite a bit for 2022. Still, my priority is to end this year’s season well, ”revealed the Suzuki Mallorcan after the race in Misano.
It is worth remembering that the driver described his title defense as lost after the race at Misano when he is in third place in the world rankings, 48 points behind leader Fabio Quartararo and 19 behind second, ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia.
