“Quartararo lost a few meters at the start and in the end the gap was just too big to close” – Massimo Meregalli

Fabio Quartararo did not have the best starts in the Misano race, which, according to Massimo Meregalli, was crucial not to win despite his student’s race, which he described as “incredibly impressive”.

Apart from the fact that the start wasn’t the most explosive, Quartararo was also fought by some drivers like Jack Miller or Jorge Martin, in contrast to Francesco Bagnaia, who made the most of the pole position to be more than two seconds behind the Frenchman.

The Yamaha team boss spoke about the # 20 race:

– As always, Fabio did a great job. Unfortunately he lost a few meters at the start, but our calculations showed that the soft rear end that our competitors were using would give way 10 laps before the end. That’s exactly what happened. Fabio kept the pressure up, but in the end the gap was just too big to close. But his performance was still incredibly impressive.
