Jack Miller has joined the Ducati factory team for the 2021 MotoGP season.
After Miller took five podiums for Ducati’s Pramac satellite team last year and finished eighth in the drivers’ standings, Miller was promoted on a one-year contract that could be extended to 2022.
The 25-year-old will be the third Australian to compete in the famous Ducati red, following in the footsteps of Troy Bayliss and two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner.
“First of all, I would like to thank Paolo Campinoti, Francesco Guidotti and the entire Pramac Racing Team for the great support I have received over the two and a half years together,” Miller said in a statement.
“It is an honor for me to continue my MotoGP career with the manufacturer Borgo Panigale and I would like to thank the entire Ducati management … for trusting me and giving me this incredible opportunity.
“I’m looking forward to starting again this year and I am ready to take on my responsibilities as an official Ducati rider in 2021.”
Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding added: “Since joining the Pramac Racing Team, Jack has grown steadily and has proven to be one of the fastest and most talented drivers in the championship.
“That’s why we’re delighted that he has agreed to ride the Ducati Team’s official Desmosedici GP bike next year.
“We are convinced that Jack has the right skills to continuously fight for the important positions in every race, starting already this season with the Desmosedici GP20 of the Pramac Racing Team and thanks to the support he will take another step forward next year make “the Ducati team.”
Current Ducati teammates Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci are likely to spend the 2020 season securing a spot alongside Miller for next year.
