After a serious incident during the first race of the Spanish Motul round of the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, we report with great sadness the death of driver Dean Berta Viñales (Viñales Racing Team), 15 years old.
Berta Viñales was involved in a multi-rider incident at Turn 1, in which the race was immediately marked with the red flag.
The driver suffered severe head and chest injuries. Ambulance vehicles arrived on site immediately and the driver was cared for on the track, in the ambulance and in the medical center of the race track.
Despite the best efforts of the county’s medical staff, the Medical Center announced that Berta Viñales sadly died from his injuries.
The FIM, Dorna and the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto extend our deep condolences to Berta Viñales’ family, friends, team and relatives.
After the incident, the rest of the action was canceled on Saturday.
