MotoGP Vinales’ cousin dies after a racing accident

Paris – The young Spanish motorcyclist Dean Berta Vinales was killed on Saturday during a race at the Jerez circuit in Spain, the Superbike organizers said.

The 15-year-old, a cousin of MotoGP rider Maverick Vinales, was involved in an accident in the first race of the WorldSSP300 class and died of chest and head injuries, the championship organizers said in a statement. This was his first season in this class. He drove for the Vinales Racing Team led by Angel Vinales, Maverick’s father. Another young Spanish driver, 14-year-old Hugo Milan, died in July during a European Talent Cup race at the Motorland Aragon circuit, also in Spain. In May, 19-year-old Swiss Jason Dupasquier died after falling during qualifying for the Moto3 World Championship race at the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello.
