Chaz Davies is retiring from the competition after this WSBK season

Chaz Davies, a reference in the Superbike World Championship, will retire at the end of this season. The decision was made on Thursday, the evening before the round in Jerez, where he will be out due to injury.

Davies is an inevitable name in superbike. After a trip that included stints at the MotoGP World Championship and AMA Championships in the United States, the Welshman came to the paddock in 2009 for the first of three seasons in the Supersport World Championship – where he became champion in 2011.

In 2012 he joined the WSBK. He never became a champion in the top category, but especially since he arrived in Aruba in 2014. Ducati is constantly on the podium and in the battle for victories. He just couldn’t win in championships that Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) finished second behind his rival three times.

Without a place in the official team, Davies continued his journey with Team GoEleven this year and owned a Ducati Panigale V4 R with factory support. However, the results were far from what the Briton is used to in the WSBK community – he has only achieved one podium and three other top 5 results so far.
