Jack Miller’s cheeky request leaves the Ducati bosses in the lurch at the start of Pramac

Look, if you don’t ask, you won’t get anything – and Jack Miller isn’t afraid to aim high.

The Australian MotoGP ace is moving to Ducati this year and appears for the first time in his new Alma Pramac Racing colors at the launch of the team.

His new squad didn’t mess around; the lavish affair took place in the factory of the exotic Lamborghini super sports car.

Among the crowd were the great bosses of the two historic Italian companies; Lamborghini’s Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali and Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali.

Then there was the Ducati racing bosses Paolo Ciabatti and Gigi Dall’Igna, the Pramac racing bosses Paolo Campinoti and Francesco Guidotti and the two- and four-wheel legends Mick Doohan and Riccardo Patrese.

And Miller’s brief interlude in the spotlight had left them all in the lurch.

He gave the right answers to the usual questions about the start of the season: “It’s amazing to see the paintwork; I’m really looking forward to the coming season; We want to be close to the top guys every week. “

Then the evening’s moderators asked him about a Doozy.

“If you could ask Paolo for a special present for your first podium with the team, what would you wish for?”

Standing at the heart of the Lamborghini factory, Miller’s cheeky Australian joke took over.

“I think we saw a lot of them outside today!” He said, referring to the display of the latest Lamborghini supercars on the factory premises.

“The new (Huracan) Permormante looks very nice … I’m not picky, anything goes!”

The serious matter begins on Friday with the opening practice for the first race of the 2018 season in Qatar.

Miller put in a strong performance in his three pre-season tests on the bike in Malaysia, Thailand and Qatar. His long-term shape leaves him calmly confident in his hopes when the red lights AEDT go out early Monday morning to start the race.

“My feeling with the bike right now is incredible,” he said. “Since the first day in Valencia we have improved step by step day by day. I like to ride the bike.

“The main focus in all tests was to work at the race pace and try to increase the race pace. I really felt a big step with it in Thailand, and Qatar was also quite good for us.

“That seems to be the strength of the bike at the moment, I think. I can do pretty consistent lap times. Gives us some confidence to go into the first race. “

The season opener in Qatar begins on Friday with two training sessions under the lights in Losail.
