At the moment, only Francesco Bagnaia can deny Fabio Quartararo the MotoGP title, and he is 52 points behind his rival Monster Energy Yamaha. With such a head start, the Ducati rider has to take some risks – as Dominique Aegerter recently faced Jordi Torres in the MotoE title race when he was caught in an incident that led to the overthrow of his rival.
Asked at a press conference whether he would risk a tough overtaking maneuver like the one between the two MotoE riders at the end of the season, Bagnaia said no – not least because the punctuality intervals are very different:
- I will certainly not do something like Aegerter, because if you have the opportunity to overtake, you overtake. If you don’t, it’s too risky to do something. We don’t have seven or eight points between us, we have 50. I don’t think I have to do that.
