SBK, Honda changes brakes and chassis: Nissin and Showa on the CBR-RR in 2022

New year, new brakes and new suspensions. Honda has decided to make a major technical change in the SBK for 2022. Last week in Jerez, Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge not only had their first experiences with the CBR1000RR-R, which will be launched next year, but also tested a number of important innovations.

Showa suspensions (as we already wrote) and Nissin brakes were actually mounted on Tokyo’s SBKs for comparison. After the evaluation, they decided to give up Öhlins and Brembo (which equipped the CBR until last year) rely entirely on “Made in Japan” components.

As far as chassis is concerned, f iShowa has important SBK experience with Kawasaki, while Nissin is already equipping BMW.

Time will tell if the choice is right.
