Fabio Quartararo was named MotoGP World Champion on October 24th of that year and within two months there were rumors that the Frenchman would be in talks with Honda for 2023 and 2024 if Yamaha were to compete in the Sepang tests (which were in just over a month) have shown that they want to take a path other than theirs, and at this time of the year everything is open.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the champion was asked if the contracts could be discussed again very soon. For Quartararo, this is a topic that doesn’t deserve due attention at the end of the year:
– I don’t like to talk about it so early, we still have 2021 and we are already talking about 2023 and 2024. I take my time. It’s not to wait but I want to take one step at a time, it’s too early to talk about what’s going to happen.
Regarding a possible move to Honda, Quartararo only makes it clear that he has options on the table, but assures that he is in no hurry to make up his mind:
– We have options. It is better to be in this situation than the other way around without moving. It’s great to be in this situation like I said, but I don’t want to be in a rush. I’ll take my time, let’s finish this in 2021 in the meantime.
