Joan Mir was MotoGP World Champion in 2020 and had no arguments to defend the title last year. He was still third and clearly the strongest of the Suzuki Ecstar team. Jorge Lorenzo, who is also from Palma de Mallorca, believes that Mir should turn to Ducati if there is a team change.
When asked by motosan.es whether the # 36 should stay in the lead at Suzuki or look for a challenge with another team in order to have more guarantees of competitiveness, Lorenzo replied that only Ducati could represent progress for me:
