“Marc Márquez could win more titles but people like Valentino Rossi’s are not seen” – Jorge Lorenzo

Jorge Lorenzo was recently interviewed about the historic 2015 season in which the # 99 won the championship five points behind Valentino Rossi.

When asked who he considers the best rider in World Championship history, Lorenzo chose his former Yamaha teammate, despite highlighting Giacomo Agostini and Marc Márquez. In the end, the Spaniard defended that the personality of the driver adds value to the championship compared to the number of titles won by each driver.

‘Those with the most titles are top notch [Giacomo] Agostini and [Valentino] Rossi, but I didn’t see Agostini and he was in a different era when the mechanical differences were catastrophic and you could compete and win multiple classes in one day. Without distracting from Giacomo’s work, I prefer Rossi because of how [Diego] Maradona in football, he was very good on the pitch and apart from that he was a leader with a lot of personality and charisma and that has to be taken into account. In their respective disciplines [Lionel] Messi or [Marc] Márquez could win more titles, but charismatic people like Maradona or Rossi are not seen very often and in my opinion a plus, ”he told motosan.
