MotoGP, Fabio Quartararo: “The takeover after Valentino was stressful”

Quartararo had to wait a long time to celebrate. His road to success has been a long and difficult one, but in the past year he has made up for all his efforts. When he arrived at the Yamaha factory team and took over Rossi, he managed to handle the pressure and become world champion.

Not an easy task, he admitted DAZN Spain: “I took over after Valentino and it was stressful watching all the people around me.

At some point, however, Fabio realized that he could do it. It was the third race of the season.

When I won in Portimão, I said to myself: ‘This is my year’.”

And it was. His dream came true at the second Misano GP.

“In a split second I looked ahead and saw a bike in the gravel. I thought about Jack falling in the first couple of corners so it had to be Pecco,” he recalled.”I then looked at the big screens and said to myself: Now I’m world champion. I didn’t even know how to ride anymore.

Passing the checkered flag was an explosion of emotions.

More than the good moments, the worst came to mind and I realized I was world champion‘ Quartararo continued. “It was a wonderful feeling.”
