SBK, let’s help Cedric Bloch recover from the Snetterton incident

A fundraiser has been launched to support semi-pro driver Cedric Bloch and his family after he suffered life-changing injuries at Snetterton.

Bloch crashed in qualifying after a catastrophic brake failure while racing in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship. Unfortunately, Cedric was left paralyzed after the bike tipped back on him. He was transported to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and underwent emergency nine-hour surgery to rebuild his spine and empty his lungs.

Bloch, 33, also fractured all of his ribs and sternum, left shin and knee, and right wrist. He is currently paralyzed from the chest down and has months of rehabilitation ahead of him before he can go home.

Bloch started racing almost three years ago, Won the Bemsee Rookie Championship and Most Promising Racer of the Year Award in his freshman year. The following year he won the Bemsee Clubman Championship, reports MCN.

Cedric’s parents, Philippe and BB, and sister Audrey have now started a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help him on his road to recovery and rehabilitation. The money raised will enable Cedric’s family to “buy the special equipment he needs to be able to return to his family home and live a contented life”.

At the time of writing, the fundraising side has raised around £40,000 with a target of £150,000. The accident happened on September 4 last year, Cedric is the father of two children. Here you can donate.
