Jack Miller came out at the right time in qualifying, taking his Ducati to 4th place on the grid for tomorrow’s race at the Red Bull Ring. The Australian rider wasn’t hiding in free practice but testing new material on the Desmosedici.
“I can’t talk about what it was. Something to improve our bike,” he said jokingly. “But I’ve been very busy and wasn’t able to do a single lap, not even this morning. In qualifying, I could’ve done it on the second exit, but I made a stupid mistake. It’s easy to make one on this track. It’s the only aspect that has disappointed me a bit, because, in general, I’m happy. Tomorrow we’ll see how the weather will be. If it rains, that’s okay for me. If it’s dry, also, and if it’s half to half… even better! “He smiled, like a true wiz of flag-to-flag races.
What worries all the riders is the heavy rain, which could make the circuit unsafe.
“True, this thing worries us,” he confirmed. “You have to be careful, since this track has great slope variations, and aquaplaning is not a fun thing. We also talked about it yesterday in the safety commission. In case of rain, they’ll know what to do, stop the race or postpone it, but I don’t take care of these things. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
Surely, Miller will have his say, and the Ducatis promise a battle, with 4 Desmosedici in the first six places on the grid.
“We’re all riding well, and the power helps us. I’m ready for any condition,” hey assured.
