MotoGP | Jorge Martin unharmed after the horror incident in Qatar

The Ducati Pramac rider was eighth in the middle of the 22 laps of the Qatar MotoGP Grand Prix, when his brand-mate Pecco Bagnaia tried to overtake him at the first corner of the circuit, at the end of the very long straight of the Lusail tracks.

Bagnaia misjudged his options, and probably passed the braking benchmark, and once there he should have tried to go long, but he tried to close the corner and lost the front, crashing to the ground. The unfortunate thing is that he took Jorge Martin right into the maneuver.

“Actually, it was the first time I feared for my life, because I drove very fast into the gravel and was trapped between the two bikes,” said the Spaniard.

The Spaniard was caught between the two bikes and with his right hand he tried to push away Pecco’s bike, which was coming towards him, receiving a severe blow that caused him a lot of pain and concern for a possible injury.

“I think I pushed Pecco’s bike with my hand to stop it, and that’s where I felt the pain. Now only my big toe hurts, but we’ll see what the doctors say,” explained Jorge after the race.

According to Motorsport.com, Martín underwent a check-up at a Barcelona clinic on Monday, where specialists ruled out any injury and confirmed that the pain was only the result of the blow he received.

So read:

It is important for the Madrid rider to start the season without injuries, after going through a real ordeal and three operations last year, after suffering a very nasty accident in the Portuguese Grand Prix, which kept him out of the game for four. races.

Now Martin will be able to continue to train normally and prepare for the next round of the World Championship, on the island of Lombok (Indonesia), where he will finish next week still dry in the standings. And what is worse, with a gap of minus 25 points over Enea Bastianini, his main competitor in the battle to take over from Jack Miller next season in the factory team at Borgo Panigale.
