Jakarta parade celebrates MotoGP return to Indonesia

A 20-rider parade is scheduled to welcome Grand Prix racing back to Indonesia after a 25 year absence.

Ahead of the sell-out inaugural Grand Prix at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, set for 18-20th March, 20 riders from the MotoGP paddock will parade through the Jakarta capital.

Before the championship heads for Lombok Island, the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta will host a 20-strong line-up of riders for unique parade, starting and ending at the Merdeka Palace on Wednesday 16th of March.

President Jokowi will welcome the riders at the Palace, before joining the parade and riding with them.

The parade will feature a host of champions and grand prix winners, alongside local talents from the junior classes, with some notable exceptions. Reigning Champion Fabio Quartararo and Monster Energy Yamaha teammate Franky Morbidelli, Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales and Factory KTM and Tech 3 riders Brad Binder, Miguel Oliveira, Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez will not be in attendance.
