MotoGP, Mugello musing on cars, 4 turns with new asphalt for ride-off areas

When the MotoGP riders return to race on the Mugello track at the end of May, they’ll find something new waiting for them. Work was carried out on the circuit, with new asphalt for a few of the ride-off areas.

As was announced the ride-off areas at Turns 2-3 and 3-4, Luco-Poggio Secco and Poggio Secco-Materassi respectively, have new asphalt for a total of 1,870 square meters. This will allow for more space to slow down and brake in case of an error. An important improvement was also made in the change of direction between Turn 3 and Turn 4, while the curb was extended at Turn 7 (the Savelli), and a 60 sqm asphalt ride-off area was also builtwhich will allow for corrections and recovering trajectories.

Also in terms of safety, additional tires were added to the Correntaio, Biondetti, and Bucine, equivalent to the FIM Type C safety walls that are designed to better absorb impact.
