MotoGP, Bagnaia admits he still has difficulty raising his arm

Do you want to know how Bagnaia’s shoulder is? Look at the photos above and you will have an answer. To show his condition, Pecco raised both arms showing how the mobility of the right shoulder compared to the left is limited. “Luckily in Jerez the straight is short, I won’t even have to tuck into the fairing,” he joked.

The good news is that the magnetic resonance scan he underwent Tuesday in Misano excluded any involvement of the tendons, his greatest fear at Portimao.

“Today is the first day I feel a little better. The liquid is decreasing and the shoulder has changed color again, now it is yellow – the Ducati rider said ironically – The tests have shown a big edema, this is what limits my movements”.

The question now is in what condition Pecco will be able to tackle the entire race weekend.

“On Monday and Tuesday the pain was the same as I felt on Sunday, because I inflamed my shoulder while racing – he explained – Now the situation has improved a bit thanks to physiotherapy, but in the practice sessions I will not be able to do many laps because I must conserve energy for the race. Luckily we know this track well, in the winter tests I was very fast, so in theory we shouldn’t have too much work to do. I am calm from this point of view”.

The Spanish GP, however, might become another missed opportunity (this time due to his physical condition) after a not particularly enthusiastic start to the season. Again, Pecco is not giving up his optimism.

“Last Sunday, at Portimao, I insisted so much on racing, I needed to do it even though I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it – confessed Bagnaia – That race gave me good feelings on the bike, from this point of view we have been working well for three races. In Portugal, on lap 17, I lapped three-tenths faster than the same lap of the GP I had won. I went back again to braking hard, to have cornering speed, the things I was missing. The work is producing results”.

And Jerez is the track where Miller and he finished first and second last year.

“Last year Jack and I had a good time, but we were lucky in the race because Quartararo was superior – he admitted – We’ll see what happens this year, but in the tests in November I went really fast, I set the track record using a medium tire. It is a circuit that adapts well to the characteristics of the Ducati and my riding style. By now the Desmosedici has no more enemy tracks, only some where we have more difficulties ”.

After the race, a test day is also scheduled for Monday.

“We will see how I will feel on Sunday evening and I will decide, even if it would be important to do them because we will have some new things to try” hey. concluded
