The plan is part of the rider’s promotion to MotoGP in 2022. This makes him the first rider since Jack Miller in 2015 to reach the premier class directly from Moto3. The choice of the SRT was made after the team reportedly lost Franco Morbidelli to the official team in 2022 in place of Maverick Viñales, leaving him out of the lineup for next season as Valentino Rossi’s departure is confirmed. Failing to sign Raul Fernandez, who signed for Tech3, SRT’s second choice was Marco Bezzecchi. However, it seems that the Italian is committed to the VR46 Ducati. Following Petronas’ announcement of its withdrawal from the sport, the team chose to look inside. Therefore, Darryn Binder was one of those chosen for the 2022 team, who is jumping directly from the Moto3 class to MotoGP. This Tuesday a test with an R1 is scheduled for Binder to get used to a 1000cc engine.
