Speculation that current WorldSBK king Toprak Razgatlioglu could switch to MotoGP in 2023 came to an end when Yamaha ended the relationship with its current satellite team.

Rumors abounded that the Turk would – despite his size and the M1 being a relative slug – step into the blue riband class following a test this summer.

But boss Lin Jarvis has put the kybosh on it. “The meaning behind the test was his interest to try the MotoGP bike as well. Secondly, it was a bit of a reward from Yamaha for his Championship last year and his continued commitment with Yamaha for the future,” he said.

“So, I think the biggest target for that test remains the same. Relax, test, enjoy and experience the MotoGP bike, to get a taste of what it could be like if he chooses to move in the future. But obviously this news of not having a satellite team, in any case, means we don’t have a spot, period, because we will only have two bikes in the factory teamNo Yamaha MotoGP satellite teams ends Razgatlioglu speculation.”
