‘The change that Fabio Quartararo had was in Austin’ – Massimo Meregalli

Fabio Quartararo currently leads the MotoGP World Championship by 21 points ahead of Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) but his start has been timid – until winning the Portuguese GP he had only had one podium in Indonesia, achieved in special wet conditions.

Speaking at a press conference in Assen, Monster Energy Yamaha Team Director Massimo Meregalli claimed that the GP of the Americas was the turning point of the #20’s season, which was consolidated after the Portuguese GP:

– I think the change that Fabio had was in COTA. When, at the end of the race, although we had a big difference in top speed, he was able to fight with Marc [Márquez] until the end of the race. When we arrived in Portimao, in my opinion, he arrived differently. From then on, I think we really maximized our set-up and they work very well not to lose anything: in the race preparation, they work very well with the tires. All the little aspects were very well controlled.
