Francesco Guidotti and the signing of Jack Miller: ‘He can bring us some different experience and motivation’

Red Bull KTM has decided to take a new direction in their MotoGP project for 2023 with the signing of Jack Miller – in place of Miguel Oliveira. Team Manager Francesco Guidotti discussed the decision and the reasons behind it.

In the ‘Inside the Paddock’ program on the official MotoGP channels, the Italian underlined that at the moment KTM is focused on the current moment, now that they have settled the riders for 2023: ‘Everyone asks me about the future, but we live in the present and it’s currently 2022, and it’s important to be focused on this season. We have fixed the future, and we know there is a moment during the season when we have to spend some time looking a little bit ahead. But the focus is on now, on this race, on this season.’

As for Miller, Guidotti spoke of the reasons behind the bet on #43: ‘Jack is very welcome to us. He comes back to Red Bull KTM after a while. He has eight years in MotoGP, that’s one of the reasons we made the choice. He can bring us some different experience, also some motivation because when you enter a new project you always have to do it with a lot of enthusiasm and motivation. And he has shown us good potential and is very happy to be back in the orange family.

In recent times, KTM have recruited from Ducati, as were the cases of not only Miller, but also technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini and Guidotti himself. The Italian team manager explained: ‘Fabiano has a lot of experience, not only in Ducati. When he left Ducati, he spent two years away in a technical company. It’s a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience, not only in Ducati. This project is very new and of course we have to pick up some experience in this specific category that has nothing to do with anything else. So we have to accelerate the development, the whole process. But it’s not easy: we are competing at the highest level of motorcycling, the differences between the riders are milliseconds. Everything counts, everything has to be in the right position at the right time.’
