Taka Nakagami shares hospital snap as he recovers from nasty Catalan GP crash

Taka Nakagami has uploaded an image of him continuing to recover in hospital after his nasty crash at turn one of the Catalan GP on Sunday afternoon at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The Japanese driver went into turn one on the first lap too quickly and found himself collecting Alex Rins and Pecco Bagnaia, with all three out of the race before it had really got going.

Nakagami was the man to come off worst, too, with his head crashing into the back of Bagnaia’s Ducati, making for a horrible-looking contact between his head and the rear-wheel of the Italian’s bike.

What an ugly crash 😳

It wasn’t pleasant looking at the time and Nakagami was taken to hospital for checks, with many naturally concerned about his condition.

He is on the mend, though, after spending time in hospital with him bandaged up rather considerably.

Indeed, he posted this message on social media earlier on Tuesday to deliver an update, and also to, rather amazingly, apologise to Rins and Bagnaia for the accident – which sums up the class of the man:

First of all, I want to apologize to @Rins42 @suzukimotogp , and @PeccoBagnaia @ducaticorse for the accident at turn 1. I’m really sorry destroyed your race.

It was a scary one but fortunately I’m OK, no serious injury. I’ll try to recovery asap.#CatalanGP #MotoGP pic.twitter.com/xX5h9QJw4f

The main thing for all the riders is that one of their company is okay after a really concerning moment at the beginning of the Catalan Grand Prix, and hopefully it won’t be long before we see Taki back at it.
