2022’s Isle of Man TT claims veteran racer Davy Morgan

Of all the things that the Isle of Man TT’s been known for (fame, beauty, and a nasty case of the twisties here and there), danger is top of the list – and today, we mourn the loss of another of the TT’s finest .

“A red flag was shown for the incident on the Mountain, at the 27th milestone section of the course, bringing a stop to the action in the middleweight class race after Michael Dunlop had already been crowned as the race winner,” states a report from The Race.

2022 marked Davy Morgan’s 80th start at the Isle of Man TT, with the previous 75 showing off an impressive list of contested titles (a 75th-place finish in 2006, and a career-best 5th in 2008) – all the way back to his debuted into the world of the TT, back in 2002 via the production 600 race.

All told, Morgan’s legacy carries the weight of “49 finishes – which included 25 top-20 finishes – [and] an average speed of 125.134mph [in 2010].”

Our deepest condolences to Morgan’s family, partner Trudy, his loved ones and friends. As for an homage to everything he has done for us, we simply leave here a comment made by somebody that reminds us exactly why the motorcycle community continues to push boundaries and do crazy things:

“The Isle of Man TT is where humans go to demonstrate free will.”

Stay safe, swing a leg over for us, and as ever – stay safe on the twisties.
