MotoGP title race tightens further in Thailand

MotoGP’s title race is really starting to enthrall after more twists in the tale at the Thai Grand Prix on Sunday.

Heavy rain curtailed the Moto2 race and pushed back the start of the MotoGP race by an hour but eventually we got going, and the skill on show from the riders was exemplary as they navigated the treacherous conditions.

Indeed, we found a perfect window in the weather for the race to be played out in, and it proved worth the wait as the title race took yet more twists and turns at the conclusion of the triple header.

Miguel Oliveira put in a stunning ride to underline his wet weather credentials and take victory, whilst Jack Miller kept up his recent good form to come home in second – he now gets married before his home race in Australia at Phillip Island.

Pecco Bagnaia on the other Ducati, meanwhile, finished third to really bring his championship challenge to the fore.

Fabio Quartararo, the current leader in the standings, didn’t register a single point and his lead is now down to just two with Bagnaia breathing down his neck.

Aleix Espargaro, third in the standings, is only 20 points back meanwhile, despite a pretty difficult day finishing in 11th after a somewhat harsh long lap penalty awarded for a first lap incident with Brad Binder, whilst Enea Bastianini finished in sixth, meaning he is 39 points back and still in with a chance ahead of the final races.

That said, with Miller a point back from the Gresini racer, perhaps you can now consider the Aussie as in with a late chance with him carrying momentum, though surely it’s going to be one from the current top three.

MotoGP has shown this year, though, that just about anything is possible…
