The group entered the chief class quite a while back and, this season, their riders Brad Folio and Miguel Oliviera completed 6th and tenth in the MotoGP standings separately.
Jack Miller, a well-known addition from Ducati, will take Oliviera’s place in the 2023 MotoGP rider lineup for KTM. Oliviera won two races this year.
KTM has warned that taking on Ducati or Yamaha will cost money.
Speedweek was informed by KTM director Hubert Trunkenpolz: We realized when we made the decision to enter MotoGP in 2017 that the successes we had achieved in Moto3 and Moto2 were really of no interest to anyone and did not result in the spin-off we had anticipated , particularly in Asian markets.
KTM President Stefan Pierer added: “Obviously, a substantial budget is required for this kind of project. We are discussing €70 million gross only for MotoGP.
“The figures are these if you want to try to be on the podium. Due to the production engines, Moto2 is actually the most affordable class, and Moto3 is not even close to the premier class.”

Trunkenpolz went on: However, a real return can only be measured on MotoGP. KTM is viewed as significantly stronger as a result of the enormous benefits of brand awareness.
Our strategy of increasing sales to cover the costs of MotoGP really worked.
“However, it makes sense to introduce young talents to MotoGP through the two small classes, so we continue to invest in Moto3 and Moto2, even though you only get media attention as a manufacturer in MotoGP,” the company stated.
Pierer stated: We have never preached the Olympic principle that participation is more important than anything else. We want to finish on top if we compete in a championship.
“We have always said that we will be patient in MotoGP because winning the Dakar and the American Supercross took seven or eight years.”
“We have demonstrated that we take MotoGP seriously and plan for the long term in the premier class,” the company states. “We have also won with the Tech3 team as a customer team beginning in 2019 and extended the contract with Dorna until the end of 2026.”
Red Bull, KTM’s sponsor, provides assistance. However, due to the increasing costs, Suzuki, a prominent motorcycle manufacturer in its own right, has already left MotoGP.
