Dani Pedrosa and the Yamaha situation: ‘Something has not been well managed’

Yamaha has struggled to be competitive in MotoGP in recent years. Despite Fabio Quartararo’s title in 2021 and his second place finish this year, the Frenchman is the only rider who can be fast on the YZR-M1 – and even then, with gaps in relation to the opposition. Dani Pedrosa does not exactly understand the reasons behind such a slump.

In DAZN’s documentary series Cuatro Tiempos, and quoted by Motosan, the former Repsol Honda Team rider commented on the situation of Quartararo and the Iwata factory: ‘I don’t know why they have gone from having a competitive bike to one that only one rider can make it work. Something has happened, something has not been well managed.’

As for his prospects for 2023, Pedrosa believes that Ducati could start the season by being superior, but that does not mean that the situation will continue for the entire season: ‘Things change very quickly, we may see a very strong start with Ducati, but anything can happen in the winter.’
