Avant ce Grand Prix du Japan, à Aragon, le rookie Pedro Acosta a remporté sa deuxième victoire en Moto2 avec l’Italie. Âgé de 18 ans et 116 jours Acosta est devenu le plus jeune pilote de Moto2 avec deux victoires, devant Marc Marquez (18 ans et 128 jours).
Aaron Canet a term deuxième at MotorLand for son septieme podium de la saison jusqu’à present. C’est also is 12ème podium in Moto2, égallant Stefan Bradl, Lorenzo Baldassarri, Julian Simon and Raul Fernandez in 21ème position on the list of pilots ayant le plus de podiums in Moto2.
Au GP d’Aragon, Augusto Fernández est monté sur la troisième marche du podium pour la septieme fois de la saison soit un de plus que l’année dernière. Aron Canet and Fernandez sont maintenant les pilotes avec le plus de podiums depuis le debut de la saison.
Après s’être qualified in 17th position, Celestino Vietti a terminé 10ème du GP d’Aragon, ce qui représente la sixieme course consécutive où il manque le podium depuis sa victoire au GP de Catalogne.
Les 10 courses Moto2 qui ont eu lieu à Motegi ont été remportées par new pilotes different : Toni Elias (2010), Andrea Iannone (2011), Marc Marquez (2012), Pol Espargaró (2013), Tom Lüthi (2014 et 2016), Zarco (2015), Alex Marquez (2017), Bagnaia (2018) and Marini (2019). Acun des pilotes Moto2 actuels à temps plein n’a gagné in the category à Motegi. Required, two ont gagné en Moto3 on the circuit: Lorenzo Dalla Porta (2019) and Niccolo Antonelli (2015). De plus, aucun des pilotes actuels de la Moto2 n’est déjà monté on the podium of the category au Motegi.
