Yamaha spares no effort and moves almost 30 staff members each test, says Cal Crutchlow

Although Yamaha was the second best manufacturer after the conclusion of the MotoGP championship, most of the points obtained by the Iwata factory were due to Fabio Quartararo. It’s no secret that the other riders had successive difficulties, including Andrea Dovizioso who ended his MotoGP career at Misano and didn’t race in the last six races of the season – it was in those same races that Cal Crutchlow was present.

For the Yamaha test rider, the whole process of testing new material and configurations has gone as expected: ‘The testing is working very well. I give them information on what they bring, where I think it’s right or wrong, and on what I think they should bring [in future]. But I’m not an engineer and it’s not that easy to just build it!’.

Speaking to crash.net, Crutchlow assures that Yamaha has spared no efforts to deliver a more competitive M1:

– But they give me loads of stuff to test. The difference between when I first started testing [at the start of 2021] and now is incredible. They move 27 staff to each test! It’s a full effort. Which is great. I enjoy doing it, and the test team is working better every time.
