Lin Jarvis on Fabio Quartararo: ‘He’s been riding on and above the limit a lot this year’

Yamaha had shortcomings in engine power for the 2022 MotoGP World Championship season. Nevertheless, Fabio Quartararo managed to take the title fight with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) to the final round, with Yamaha Lin Jarvis highlighting their efforts.

Speaking to the microphones of Crash.net, the Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing and Team Principal of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team admitted that it is vital to make gains in engine performance after Quartararo was even over the limit in order to remain competitive in 2022: ‘We need that [engine performance], and Fabio needs it. He’s been riding on and above the limit a lot this year to be competitive. Using all of his skills.’

Jarvis acknowledged that it is essential to build a more complete YZR-M1, as with the Ducati Desmosedici GP: ‘But that’s hard work as well. Most people would evaluate the Ducati to be the most complete package on the grid at the moment, and when there’s eight of them, it’s really, really tough. So we need to create a better package to allow more margin and to allow us to fight during a race.’
