‘Fabio Quartararo has it all, on and off the bike’ – Lin Jarvis

The connection between the Yamaha YZR-M1 and Fabio Quartararo was immediate, starting with the frenchman on the SRT Yamaha and later continuing in the official factory team.

On the Yamaha side, this connection is to be cherished, as the team director, Li Jarvis, who hopes to continue with Quartararo in the structure for many, long years, says: ‘There are those who have something inside of them and there are others who don’t. For me Casey [Stoner] was one of those, for example. And if you ask others, including Valentino [Rossi]another rider with extraordinary skills, everyone was impressed with Stoner’.

For Jarvis, the frenchman is a safe bet and has already proven, since his arrival in MotoGP, in 2019, that he deserves Yamaha’s full support, as he revealed to SPEEDWEEK.com: ‘Sometimes it’s courage, talent, reaction times, understanding of the bike… there are many, many elements to take into account and Fabio has them all. Like many top riders, he manages to compartmentalize these things well, so that when the moments that really matter come around he can block out everything else and do what needs to be done’.

Jarvis is stunned with the runner-up, who manages to gather a series of elements around him to be able to extract the best from the bike but also from himself:

– I would say that Fabio is great on the bike and also off it. And I say off the bike because we can’t forget that. Some riders are able to gather a group of people around them and work as a team. Rossi is a good example of that, as is Marc Marquez. If we look at Marquez’s group at HRC, we see that they are very close to each other. And Fabio has it for sure. It’s great with his team, they all trust each other a lot. It’s a matter of working together towards a common goal and then drawing on your unique riding skills, and that’s something special.
