Two in a row! Alex Marquez is on Honda’s 850th podium in the premier class

Eleventh to second for Alex Marquez and a first podium in dry weather in the premier class with another faultless race that fought for a first victory to the end.

Alex Marquez continued his good form on home soil with the fourth warm-up in the morning and showed a constant pace on board his Honda RC213V. When the lights went out, Alex jumped forward and immediately gained a handful of spots to make it into the top ten. Alex fought briefly with Andrea Dovizioso, the rookie quickly dispatched the Ducati rider and continued his advance with Miller next.

At the speed of the race, Alex was the fastest rider on the track, making his way through the two Petronas Yamahas and finishing on the podium for the second week in a row. When Alex Marquez relived his Moto3 and Moto2 days, he fought for victory with Alex Rins and pushed the Suzuki rider’s turn. A moment in turn one on the last lap, Alex eased slightly and took a well-deserved second podium. The podium is Alex’s first dry-weather podium in MotoGP and Honda’s 850th in the premier class. 20 more points for second place bring Alex to 12th place in the overall standings and to the level of Brad Binder with 67 points in the rookie-of-the-year standings.

From the back row of the grid, Stefan Bradl had a consistent race to 17th place. Bradl fought again with the championship candidate Fabio Quartararo and overtook the French driver in the final stages of the race. With another race next week, Stefan wants to come back stronger and fight for points again while refining the setup of his RC213V.

On Sunday in Aragon, Honda became the first manufacturer to achieve victories in all classes of Grand Prix racing with 100 different riders when Jaume Masia took victory in Moto3.

The countdown now begins for the Teruel GP from October 23rd to 25th on the MotorLand Aragon racetrack. Alex Marquez has made impressive improvements between races on the same tracks this year and will continue the trend.
