Repsol Honda Team back on track in Sepang Test

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez returned to his RC213V for the first time with rookie teammate Alex Marquez in 2020 as the new MotoGP World Championship season kicks off with testing in Malaysia.

The procedure started almost as soon as the route opened in Malaysia. The Repsol Honda team worked for 2020 from the start. Unfortunately, the rain shortly after lunch limited the track time.

Eight-time world champion Marc Marquez covered a total of 37 laps before stopping just before lunch. After having operated on his right shoulder in winter and undergoing 250 hours of physiotherapy, Marc is concentrating more on the quality of the laps than the number of laps on the 5.5 kilometer Sepang International Circuit. Marc drove with a best time of 1’59.676 and finished the day within a second of the fastest time, as he looks at the remaining two days of the test.

After running Moto2 World Champion Alex Marquez for two days on the Sepang Circuit, he picked up where he left off and built his confidence on board the Honda RC213V. It was a busy first half of the day for the rookie, who completed 38 laps and set a best time of 1’59.918. Alex and the Repsol Honda Team have been pleased with the progress made so far.

The pair will be back on track on day two of the Sepang Test, hoping for more cooperative weather.
