Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo are making the most of the track time and are delighted with the work they have done as the opening day of the Catalan GP practice came to an end.
Despite a brief rain in the afternoon, both drivers of the Repsol Honda Team were able to collect a lot of information and data at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Conditions stayed constant throughout the day, the route peaked at 42 ° C and the air temperature barely changed from 26 ° C.
Marc Marquez immediately started the day at pace and continued to improve his feeling in the Repsol Honda Team RC213V throughout Free Practice 1. The session ended the fastest with 1,40,692. Marquez cannot improve this time in Free Practice 2 and starts Saturday as the ninth fastest driver.
Jorge Lorenzo used the track time to evaluate the new ergonomics of his Honda RC213V. Lorenzo improved by 0.8 seconds and finished training on Friday with a 1’40.816 for 14th place overall. Despite this position, Lorenzo is only 0.737 seconds behind Quartararo’s fastest time as the five best drivers were separated by just 0.5 seconds.
Takaaki Nakagami finished third on the LCR Honda as the best Honda rider.
