According to Rossi, Yamaha can be “a complete MotoGP team”

Yamaha signed Fabio Quartararo early last year to take Rossi’s place for 2021, with the veteran Italian remaining a factory-backed rider with a move to SRT.

Vinales believes that Yamaha has lacked unity in its ranks for the past three years and believes that there is no longer the division within the garage where “Valentinos Team” and “my team” are the Japanese brand Can be “more complete” than a unit in 2021.

“I think team unity is very important to us because everyone has been walking alone for the past three years,” Vinales said during the Yamaha 2021 launch event.

“We weren’t all one, and I think with Esteban [Garcia, crew chief], also Lin [Jarvis, managing director] and Maio [Meregalli, team manager] What we’re trying to do is make the 20 or 24 guys who work on the team into one team.

“And for me that’s more important to keep me in a good mood and a good feeling.

“After the years before it was difficult because it was Valentino’s team, my team.

“I think we now have the opportunity to be a full team and go in the same direction with both riders and I think we can do what we can because in a race you can see us are super good and in the next. “We are races bad.

“It’s hard for me to believe that the bike can change so much from one track to the next.

“So first we have to solve all these problems that we have and the results will certainly come because we have the speed, we have a good qualifying, we have good races and a good rhythm.

“I think we need more details. We have to go into the details and I think Maio and Lin are really involved in all of these details. “

Quartararo agrees with Vinales’ comments, noting that they showed a similar level of performance throughout the campaign, which should help in the development of the M1.

“In Jerez, both [of us] Made 1-2, then we were always together at the end of the championship; when I was seventh, he was eighth or vice versa, ”said Quartararo when Motorsport.com asked him for Vinales’ comments.

“So always super close. At the end of the year we never had a works bike on P1 or P2 and then all the rest of it on P11.

“We were all down or all up so we had more or less the same complaints and I think we can do a good job together.

“It’s always difficult to make the same comment because we have different driving styles.

“But we sure have the same problems and I think we have to push in the same way and I think that’s great.

“Of course Maverick is my main rival, but if we can fight for one and two instead of eight and nine, it’s much better to work together.

“Well, I think it’s going to be a good rivalry and to improve the bike.”
