With 159 laps between them, Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro made the most of the latest MotoGP test of the season as they went through an extensive list.
For the second time in 2021, the MotoGP World Championship was back on track for a test during the season on Monday. After a difficult start to the season, it was a crucial test for the Repsol Honda Team and both drivers were some of the first on the track.
With Sunday’s disappointment behind, Pol Espargaro set out to work with the Repsol Honda team to find a direction for future races. A total of 72 laps made for a strenuous day, his best time of 1’39.877 came on lap 71. This time Espargaro finished the day in sixth place and with more knowledge after another full day on board the RC213V. Espargaro’s afternoon was briefly disrupted by a fall because another driver was driving slowly.
Marc Marquez worked hard from the start and completed a total of 87 laps on board the RC213V, the most laps of all drivers on Monday. A time attack was not the focus of the test for the eight-time world champion, Marquez finished the day as the eleventh fastest driver with a best time of 1: 40.054.
June 20th is the date of the next Grand Prix, which gives the Repsol Honda Team a week to work off the track after two busy weekends.
