MotoGP: Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci hopes to “turn a new page” at Silverstone – Roadracing World Magazine

The Ducati Team prepares for the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit

After Andrea Dovizioso’s spectacular victory ten days ago at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, the Ducati team has now arrived in Great Britain for one of the traditional events on the MotoGP calendar, the Great Britain Grand Prix. The Silverstone Circuit will once again host the MotoGP teams’ final meeting in August – lap 12 of 19 – and due to the cancellation of the race twelve months ago, Andrea Dovizioso is actually the rider who scored the final points to win the 2017 race in England on his Ducati.

With his GP victory in Austria, the driver from Forlí has now achieved 172 points in the overall standings, 58 behind leader Marc Márquez. Danilo Petrucci, on the other hand, travels to Silverstone with the aim of defending his third place in the standings: With 136 points, the driver from Terni retains a lead of 12 over Alex Rins, who is fourth. Petrucci returns to the track where he took his first MotoGP podium – a second place in 2015 – at the Pramac Racing Team’s Desmosedici GP.

In the constructors ‘championship, Ducati is still in second place with 202 points, 34 behind Honda, while the Italian team leads the teams’ special standings with 308 points.

Andrea Dovizioso (# 04 Ducati Team) – 2nd (172 points)

“Nothing gives you more satisfaction and confidence than victory, and so we come to Silverstone with our moral highs. Our result at the Red Bull Ring was no coincidence, because we worked very well on the two consecutive race weekends and the results proved us right. Even if the characteristics of the British circuit are not as favorable for us as in Brno and Zeltweg, we have already shown that we can be fast at Silverstone, like in 2017 when we won the race. As always, the weather will play an important role and we have to be ready to adapt to all circumstances. “

Danilo Petrucci (# 9 Ducati Team) – 3rd (136 points)

“The last two races were definitely my worst of the year and so the goal now is to turn a new page as soon as possible and to prove at Silverstone that we deserved our third place in the championship. I have some fond memories of this track, especially for the 2015 podium, and I think if we stay focused from the first session we can be competitive. There will be a lot of competition and the changeable weather here in England is always a factor to consider and can affect the race. However, I am determined to get a good result. “

The Ducati Team will leave for the first free practice on the Silverstone track on Friday, August 23rd at 09.55 a.m. (10.55 a.m. CET). The race is planned on Sunday, August 25th, at 1:00 p.m. local time (2:00 p.m. CET) over a distance of 20 laps.
